Mountain High East & West Resort
Mountain High is home to not one, but three distinguished resorts. Even though they are only a mile apart, they offer stunning differences in both terrain and atmosphere.
West Resort: The West Resort is filled with a seemingly endless assortment of technical trails and skillfully-designed terrain features for progressive riders and skiers of all skill levels. It is the most youthful of the three areas and the site of many on-hill contests, promotions and live performances. It is also Southern California’s only local resort open five nights-a-week peak season.
East Resort: The East Resort boasts the longest trails for Southern California skiing serviced by a single high-speed quad. It is also known for its thrilling moguls, gladed tree skiing areas and breathtaking views of the Mojave Desert. Rising as high as 8,200 feet, the East Resort offers traditional skiers and snowboarders a true alpine experience without having to journey far from home.
Mountain High North Resort
North Resort: Mountain High’s new North Resort offers 70 acres of beginner terrain perfect for families and introductory skiers. It is also home to the North Pole Tubing Park, the largest tubing area in Southern California. Formerly Ski Sunrise, Mountain High North is located directly across from the West Resort and operates Friday through Sunday peak season.
I’ve been renting from McGrath’s since I was a kid, and it’s the only place I rent from in Wrightwood. I’ve even stopped here on my way to Big Bear because I know the gear you get is the best. The owner is super nice and his sons work there, so it’s a family place. Definitely rent from here. You won’t be disappointed.
This place is amazing!! I came up last Sunday with a few friends and it was completely packed!! They were able to get us out in about 10 min with everything we needed. The 3 of us rented boards and boots, which all came out to only $23!!!! The staff is super friendly and the owner is hilarious. Also, when we returned the employees met us at the door and took all of our stuff. It made it that much better. Over all I would recommend this place to every single person coming up to mountain high.
Great rental shop with friendly staff. I stupidly left my billfold with over $400.00 on their counter. When I got to the parking lot at the lifts I realized what I’d done and drove back. It was only a small billfold that could have been easily pocketed but they had dutifully kept it for me. It made my week, maybe even month.
Also, $15.00 is a steal for skis and poles.
This place is really underrated. I always went to Benny’s because my friend had recommended it and they have stellar reviews. I got to Benny’s this morning and there was a long line that wasn’t moving. When you’re trying to get up to the mountain, time is of the essence…
…McGrath’s is great to rent from for snowboarding pants, helmets, boards and of course boots! You can get a soft wax for your own board for $5 but, it’s not with an iron for $5 more you could get that done at Mountain High and another $10 will get your edges sharpened at Mt. High too. McGrath’s also has great gloves, beanies, stomp pads, snowboarding socks for sale too…
Today was one of those rare snowy days that we see every few years in Southern Cal. From start to finish, the returning experience was also a breeze, it was a great trip!

This place was awesome!! Such a gem to find in Wrightwood. First off, the staff (Drew) was so friendly and made us feel so comfortable as soon as we walked in. He was so helpful in making sure our equipment and gear fit correctly and didn’t hesitate to get us what we needed…

There is such great service here. There is never any wait, even when the shop is busy, because customer service is so prioritized. Rentals are a great deal–they have boards and skis and other gear. I will absolutely come back. Definitely a Wrightwood staple.
They are super helpful and friendly. We called to ask them questions, and they took their time to help us. If I ever need rentals, I will be going to them.
